We moved to Marden to bring our baby up in the countryside

I only recently moved to Marden from West London with my wife and 4 month old baby.I grew up in Kent and we have a lot of family here so it was always somewhere we wanted to settle and raise our new baby. After over a decade of living in the city we were desperate to move to the country, to a more rural setting, where our son could have a big garden to play in, and nature on his doorstep to explore and appreciate.Marden seemed to offer everything we could possibly want. Close enough to larger towns when needed, but still a beautiful rural setting and a small, local feeling community. I can't stress enough that is was the "smallness" of Marden that appealed. The character. The fact that it was very much a village. We found the perfect house. A beautiful 100 year old cottage we could settle perfectly into, but with the scope to make our own and maybe extend as our family grew. A large mature garden out the back, and just as importantly breath taking views and easy access to uninterrupted Kent countryside, farmland and green, open fields to the front. This was suppose to be the "forever" house. We genuinely believed that we could be happy for here for decades. And then we learned of this proposed development. 3 days after we had exchanged on our purchase. My wife was in tears, and I don't think I have had a proper night's sleep since. Our beautiful "forever" home is in the middle of the proposed new development. We would go from having nature on our doorstep, to having 1000 other doorsteps on our doorstep. And that's just out the front door. There would be another 1000 out the back. The developers will claim that they are proving "benefits" such as new schools, new doctors surgeries, new supermarkets, new road links etc. and that these are supposed to be of equal value (or even improved value) to us to waking up every morning to this view.

We moved to Marden knowing that it might be 10 minutes drive to a larger supermarket. This was part of the appeal. We didn't want to live in an urban sprawl any longer. We've done that. We didn't want to have to keep our curtains closed 24x7 in case one of 30 other windows is looking in. We've done that.We moved here to bring up our son in the countryside, and ironically it's Countryside that are threatening to take that away from us.To say we are heartbroken doesn't even come close. We have quite literally had our future, our son's future, ripped out from under us. This was our dream and if this development goes ahead that dream will have been destroyed.
