About our donation to Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide

Earlier this week Marden Planning Opposition Group (MPOG) were delighted to present a cheque for £230.73 donated at the March for Marden to Roger Eltringham, Medical Director and Founder of Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide (SAW). Roger is pictured below with several members of Marden Planning Opposition Group Committee as well as SAW Trustees Colin Whittle and Geoffrey Burr.

Founded in 2011, SAW is based right here in Marden. Their aim is to ensure that anaesthesia is available wherever it is needed around the world. There are an estimated 5 billion people who lack access to surgical and anaesthetic care, almost all of them in the developing world. Very little aid goes to low- and middle-income countries targeted at anaesthesia, yet it is crucial for surgery to save lives during difficulties in childbirth, to treat injuries, congenital disorders, traumas and more.

Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide supplies appropriate equipment and training and supports research to improve methods of anaesthesia in low-income countries. To date they have donated over 1,000 anaesthesia machines and work in 17 different countries.

We are absolutely delighted to support this amazing charity and our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who donated.
